FAQ

Thanks for visiting Lynch's Pantry!

Our Products

We offer free shipping over on orders over $200.

We also offer regular discounts and other rewards to our mailing list subscribers!
More importantly, we will often have products that are quite special but very limited. Working with native Australian ingredients is often a fickle business, supply can be tricky and unpredictable, so sometimes we will have very limited stock of a special product and when this happens we will make these available to our subscribers first.

You can subscribe to our mailing list here or by using the form in the footer.

Yes. Everything that we sell at Lynch’s Pantry is produced by hand, with love, by our small team right here in our little café. We hand package, hand label, then tie a little bow on it, spank it on the bottom and send it out into the world.

Part of our ethos when working with Native Australian foods is to contribute to Aboriginal participation in the bush foods sector. You might be surprised to know that Aboriginal participation in this sector is reported at around 2%. As you can read in our About Us section, we believe food is about stories, history and culture and so we think this is a problem that threatens to devalue the foods that were stewarded by and sustained the oldest living culture on Earth. Where ever possible, we preferentially seek to source native ingredients through indigenous owned businesses, particularly where those businesses involve in-community and wild harvesting practices.

We have worked with Sprocket Roasters since opening our venue in 2017. Like us, Sprocket do things differently. They have designed, patented and built a world first fluid bed roaster that runs on bioenergy products (such as spent coffee grinds) instead of fossil fuels. This means that they produce fantastic coffee at a tiny fraction of the carbon footprint of a normal roaster. Most importantly, we love their coffee and so do our customers.

Wholesale

At this stage we have not entered wholesale arrangements with any retailers or distributors. We do intend to develop the business in this direction over the coming years and if you have a desire to stock our products we recommend getting in touch to see where we are at in this process.

At this stage we do not offer samples. However when we are ready to focus on our wholesale offering we will offer samples to potential stockists. If you would like to see where we are up to with developing our wholesale offering, please get in touch.

Delivery and Returns

We send all of our products by tracked Australia Post. We aim to dispatch all orders within 2-5 days of orders being placed, and you should allow an additional 2-10 days for Australia Post to complete your delivery via standard post.

You may also purchase express post at an extra expense which will speed the delivery time.

More information about our shipping policies is available here.

For the most part we do not accept returns of food products except in strictly limited circumstances which are detailed in our formal returns policy.

Our shipping is calculated per-order based on weight and structured so as to directly pass on the shipping costs charged to us by Australia Post in relation to filling your order.
We offer free standard delivery for all orders over $200.

Your shipping will be calculated at checkout and added to your order total. If you have any further questions about shipping please feel free to contact us.

Not at this time but we are hoping to set up international shipping options very soon.

You will be provided with a tracking number at checkout and via your order confirmation email. If for some reason you don’t receive your parcel, please contact Australia Post directly for more information.

We do not accept any responsibility for frustrated or failed delivery by Australia post. Further details are continued within our formal shipping policy.

Sustainability and Social Responsibility

Lynch’s Pantry is our online sales channel, but our core business is still Lynch’s Hub Café where we have always had a very local focus. Social responsibility and the local urban community in Newcastle which is focused on our working harbour and foreshore have always been at the centre of our vision for Lynch’s Hub. We have been involved in numerous charitable initiatives over the years having been mentioned for these efforts in state parliament twice. Our policy is to focus our support on local clubs, groups, charities and not-for-profits that seek to make life better for those in our local community through structured initiatives such as our “Club Nights” which aim to support local sporting clubs and school P&Cs. As a rule we are not able to help with one-off requests for charitable donations or support as we focus whatever we can give on these initiatives which we feel achieve the biggest impact for our local community.

At our café and production site we have invested substantially in sustainability. We produce most of our own power through a large solar system. We work with carbon conscious suppliers such as Sprocket Roasters. We have invested in the world’s most sustainable hygiene system in order to produce commercial grade cleaning and sanitising solutions through water electrolysis which allows us to drastically reduce our chemical footprint while simultaneously achieving improved standards for food hygiene and safety.

At our café we do our very best to ensure that any takeaway packaging is the most responsible format that we can source. You will also notice that most of our products on Lynch’s Pantry are packaged in glass jars rather than plastic or other materials. While this adds to our expense in producing these products, glass packaging can be reused by the customer in their home long after our products have been consumed. When it does make its way into recycling, glass is cleaner and easier to recycle than other materials. Due to its rigid and non-porous nature glass is resistance to contamination and soiling which allows it to be recycled almost infinitely without losing its quality or purity.
